Another of those “isn’t the internet incredible?” moments. I’d heard about some of these new movies, like Good Night and Good Luck, representing some kind of revival of political filmmaking in Hollywood. Then just now I read in the Observer about Participant Productions, the company behind GNGL, Syriana and several other such films, founded by eBay founder, Jeff Skoll. Within seconds I’ve got a new case study for my Film Marketing students; I’ve joined the Participant mailing list; I’m reading about how Participant builds activism into its movies; I’ve bid for one of those groovy Segway scooter-type things on, er, eBay; oh, yeah, and made a date to see GNGL and Syriana when they come out here.
